Damn my uncle said the house will be ready in February or March now. Wtf? What do you feel about it?
So in my previous posts I was posting about how the last time I visited my hometown Siliguri in West Bengal was in Sept 2024 which was already a bit over 2 years ago. Yeah I live in the city Bangalore in India since 2008 but still used to visit Siliguri annually once or sometimes even twice(like in 2024). But yeah I shared the main reason is because my uncle(dad's older brother) who is also a doctor is building another floor on my grandparents' home as both my grandparents are dead now. But the construction work has been going on forever. It started in early 2025 last year and my uncle was saying it should get over by Sept or Oct or Nov last year itself so we could visit Siliguri but nah it didn't get over. Then they said maybe it will get over by Feb or March of 2026 but nah. It was delayed because a cement wasn't available so the construction work was halted for a while. But uncle said by Sept or October or November of this year it will get over. We thought maybe we will visit Siliguri during our Bengali festival Durga puja as we came to Bangalore when I was a child so never saw the real Durga puja of West Bengal. Bangalore has a Bengali migrant diaspora and plenty of Durga Puja celebration but of course it can't match the puja in Bengal.
But nah the house is still not done. In less than a week, Durga puja is gonna happen. Yesterday uncle literally said it will probably get over by the coming February or March which is frustrating as hell as its been 2 years since I have visited Siliguri last time. I am really kinda missing Siliguri, the flight trips from Bangalore, exploring the airports of Bangalore and Kolkata(while halting), the shift to a slower paced city environment of Siliguri after spending in a fast paced city like Bangalore, eating yummy momos and Taipo there, the amazing feeling that the beautiful Dooars region is nearby and the nearby hill stations and unique diverse environment where a mix of Bengali people, Nepalese people, Tibetans and all live especially around Bagdogra region. I love it. It feels like a pleasant 2 weeks of break before returning back to Bangalore again. Also I really really wanna visit the hill station Darjeeling for real. Yes I still haven't been there as a grown up and I am 25. My parents said they took me there when I was basically a baby so yeah obviously I don't remember much of Darjeeling. Sadly this Durga Puja and Dussehra festival vacations, we are going around Nagarhole National Park and Kabini river area in Karnataka state of India itself not too far from Bangalore but seriously I am so angry on how long the construction work of the floor is going on in Siliguri. I wanna go there so badly as its been a long time for real.
