Living in the moment???
Probably best not to ponder.
Your brain takes about 200 milliseconds to process what you're seeing. On a train at 60 mph, that's 17 feet. The parking lot you see is already behind you by the time you know it was a parking lot.
The stars are the same. Betelgeuse's light left 640 years ago. You're not seeing the star. You're seeing the star's record, arriving. The star might be gone. You won't know for another 300 years.
You're not in the present. You're on a train. The present is the width of the woosh. And the train doesn't stop.
So yeah. Live in the moment.
Right after it's gone.
If you question the 200ms figure, this post is not for you
if you question the 17 feet, this post is meant for you
