Something kinda strange or slightly unsettling happened yesterday in Church Street. What do you feel about it?
So yesterday in the common food court area in Church Street of our city Bangalore in India which is one of youthful cosmopolitan areas of the city, I remember just saying to a pair of women. Yeah they are Indian too and young women somewhere in their 20s and I am 25 and honestly I didn't even say them much. I just said them that I was saying Hi just saying Hi to new people to which they smiled and said me Hi back and I eventually said them Have a great day as I had to visit UB City mall so didn't stand for a longer conversation so yeah it was basically only Hi and then have a great day and they too said "you too". But a guy also a young man likely in college, seated nearby suddenly looked at me full surprised and seemed in a defensive way. Actually he likely wasn't even with them as he was seated in a chair with a gap of 2 chairs in between him and the women. He immediately noticed me in a very surprised me when I initiated with the 2 women. Right after I wished the women a great day and walking, that guy(Indian too) suddenly was gesturing me with a quite angry expression to go near him. Yeah he was gesturing me with his fingers to go near him. But yeah I just quietly walked away and exited the food court. So even from outside he could see me as he was seated at the window facing table and again noticed me and gave those looks and was gesturing me to go near him but I continued walking to my destination (UB City).
So I am not sure why he did that. I am not sure whether he was one of their boyfriends or their brother or male friend or just a random bystander(yeah sometimes some bystanders in Cafes and Church Street do stare or gaze at me when I initiate conversations with women but never got directly confronted). Again he wasn't seated with them. The 2 women were in their own bubble talking among each other whereas he was seated 2 seats away from them and looking forward and eating quietly and not even talking to them. Even while gesturing and calling me near him, he was mainly doing it to me instead of talking to them or asking anything to them and he didn't even follow me or come towards me as I walked away and he did all that while seated on his chair itself. He wasn't even in any security guard or staff uniform and was just in a normal dress so thats what made me confused that why he did that. After I walked away too, I noticed from outside from the window that he continued eating again and noticed me again and suddenly again gesturing me to go near him. But I am not sure why he was doing it. I did nothing wrong to the women at all. I only said them hello and have a great day and he likely wasn't with them as he was seated away and not talking to them and even if he likely was, saying just a hello and walking away isn't wrong. I am not sure whether he was their boyfriend or male friends or just a random bystander trying to bluff on me for confidently initiating with women or it was kinda likely moral policing which happens in parts of India where some uncles or aunties or young vigilante groups like Bajrang Dal harasses and polices couples and others for having mixed gender interactions. Idk which is true but it was unsettling for sure. Thankfully nothing too bad happened. Later at afternoon after I returned back to Church Street again, nothing happened and he was gone too.
