Bread For the Hungry
This is for the heart that has tried everything else and is still empty. This is bread. Real bread. For starving souls.
There is a hunger in the human heart that nothing in this world can satisfy.
We may try to fill it with relationships, possessions, success, entertainment, money, fancy houses or cars, sex, or the approval of others. We may spend years searching for something that will finally make us feel whole. Yet when the excitement fades and the quiet comes, we can still find that same emptiness waiting inside. Think not? Movie stars have all this yet we see plenty of suicides from them and that's because nothing can fill that void in our hearts, except Jesus.
Jesus said, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger. John 6:35
Jesus is the Bread our souls are hungry for. Actually, starving for.
He didn't come simply to make our lives easier. He came to give us life. He came to forgive our sins, heal our broken hearts, set us free from the chains of sin that have held us captive, and reconcile us to God.
The world may offer temporary satisfaction, but only Jesus can satisfy forever. Only He can bring peace, love, and joy to our starving spirit.
There is freedom in Christ. Freedom from the guilt of yesterday. Freedom from the fear of tomorrow. Freedom from trying to earn God's love. Freedom from the burden of carrying everything by ourselves.
Jesus doesn't ask us to clean ourselves up before we come to Him. He asks us to come.
Come hungry.
Come broken.
Come weary.
Come just as you are.
He already knows everything about you, and He still loves you.
If you have been searching for something to fill that void/emptiness inside you, what your heart has truly been searching for is Jesus. He is the answer to the puzzle of life.
Jesus is the Bread of Life.
And when we come to Him, we don't just receive something that satisfies us for a moment. We receive the One who gives us eternal life.
Jesus said, If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:36
So if your soul is hungry today, don't keep looking everywhere else.
Jesus said, "Come to Me, if you are heavy-hearted and burdened, and I will give you rest."
That's His promise to us and He never breaks a promise.
Let Him fill the empty places.
Let Him forgive your sins.
Let Him break the chains.
Let Him give you a new beginning.
The Bread of Life is being offered freely.
Come and eat.
Come and live.
Come and be free.
I learned 53 years ago that Jesus is enough.[/b]
