Omggg even he is traveling the world now for real. How come he did it faster than me?
So this post is about this guy Rohith who was my classmate in 6th to 8th grade. So he is a Telugu Reddy guy who is a local born and brought up in Bangalore itself in the Munnekolala area where my home is too whereas I am Bengali from West Bengal living in Bangalore since 2008. So we were classmates and friends too. He was very local at the time and a person who loved visiting temples(he still does as I see on his Instagram posts). He used to mostly talk in Kannada (local language of Bangalore and Karnataka state) and Telugu (the language spoken in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states but Bangalore especially East Bangalore has a large Telugu community) with his local Reddy friends in school and the area. We used to sit together and share lunch. He loved eating my parota and I enjoyed eating his Idli with coconut chutney. We also had silly middle school fights and writing competitions to see who is faster.
We both cried a lot. As Rohith was academically very week and even failing in exams, I remember teachers would call him to solve a math problem and he would start crying immediately as he didn't know it. He also used to cry in fights with other boys including his Reddy friends too whereas I used to cry too after getting beaten by bullies especially Arjun who used to mostly physically bully me at the time until he became a severe bully in 9th grade but by then Rohith changed schools. I also used to cry in those silly fights with Rohith but I also made him cry like twice haha. As we had a Maruti 800 car at the time for some reason I used picture myself as the Maruti 800 too as I was slow in running and others could beat me in races and I was easily bullied too just like how other cars could easily overtake our Maruti 800 whereas I used to imagine Rohith as the Tata Indica car as Indicas were used as cab all around Bangalore in the early to mid 2010s and he was also a full local and also used to cry a lot(please don't judge me I was just a kid haha so used these imaginations).
But now I am 25 and he is also in his mid 20s. 2 days ago, he eventually followed me back on Instagram and I literally saw him posting a pic of him in Vietnam in his Instagram stories. That surprised me as he was always so deep rooted in the Bangalore's Munnekolala life and celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi festival every year in Munnekolala since school days when I knew him. He mostly posted about his temple visits in South India with his Reddy friends. Yes his dad is rich as he is a landowner in around East Bangalore but still so far he mostly was so deep rooted in the local Telugu/South Indian life within Munnekolala so him being abroad is surprising. Yes this another guy Harshit who was my classmate too 11th and 12th grade and friends of Rohith and the same Reddy group often has been traveling around including abroad so I expect him but seeing Rohith do it still felt surprising. Ganesh Chaturthi is coming soon tho so I wonder whether Rohith and his group will be here and return here by then or not tho. Its crazy tho how he has been to abroad before I could like damn man.
