My sister telling me I was more emotionally intelligent at 2 than the grown ass adults around us made me laugh
because I thought it was leading to a funny story but the context was actually pretty sad
She was 13 at the time and got blamed/targeted/isolated for when I fell down the stairs and broke my arm. She had her headphones in and was doing her homework when it happened.
She was consumed with guilt until I came back home from the hospital and picked up on how she was feeling.
She said I approached her, held her hand, lead with "I'm okay, look" and tried to lightly lift my arm in the cast. She started crying, I hugged her and apparently this softened everyone to her again.
My heart🥺 Who said the baby can't be the protector too? lol
I know things haven't been easy lately and it's one bombshell after another but I hope we can show up for each other just like this💙
