Did I do the right thing?

So my wife and I have been separated since the end of March when she unexpectedly left me. Since then I have endured some of the hardest times I’ve ever had to face and I did most of it alone. Last weekend she suffered a stroke but has already been cleared to drive and go to work. We saw each other yesterday and at the end of the visit we hugged but then she grabbed my face and kissed me and told me she loved me. I addressed it today telling her part of me will always love her and care for her but now it will be as friends only. That I cannot allow myself to feel that amount of pain and hurt again. She apologized and said she will always love me.
Since then I’ve just been questioning myself… Did I make the wrong decision especially being a man who wants to be a man of integrity and honor? As a man who claims to be a Christian am I wrong?

You are not wrong.
I addressed it today telling her part of me will always love her and care for her but now it will be as friends only. That I cannot allow myself to feel that amount of pain and hurt again.

If that’s how you honestly feel, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with what you said.
Being Christian doesn't mean that you aren't allowed to hurt and that you have to let those who hurt you before in to do it again.

The Catholic faith is one of the strictest - and, even they allow for separation and civil divorce in the event that a marriage reaches such levels of toxicity that you're better off living seperately than you woul be trying to stay together.

If you feel that what you have now is a healthy boundary for you both, then, what is the harm in it???
She threw you away and that is not a small emotional tole it took on you.
I think you can respond in any way you want. If you are not emotionally able to be with her again, don’t. But if your beliefs are something you want to figure into this, consider praying about it. The more you pray, those closer you grow in God the easier it is to hear his voice.

To answer your question honestly, I'd have to know the context of your wife leaving you in the first place ...albeit unexpectedly.

It may have been unexpected to you, but if your relationship with her had been failing for some reason prior to her leaving, then her leaving wouldn't be unexpected to her. Question is, did she leave and then go and live somewhere by herself... or did she quickly acquire a boyfriend who took her in?

@swirlie she rented an apartment and moved out all behind my back

Yes I get all that, but why? What was her motive for doing that?

@swirlie she didn’t want responsibility anymore idk she never has given me truth
