If my life were a book, this would be the last page.

She spent so much of her life trying to get things right.

The right decisions.
The right career.
The right people.
The right words.
The right time to stay, and the right time to leave.

For years, she thought peace would come when all the uncertain things were finally settled.

It didn’t.

Peace came when she realised she could be uncertain and still move forward.

Some things she built lasted. Some didn’t. Some people stayed. Some became chapters she once thought would be the whole book. There were plans she fought desperately to keep, only to discover that losing them made room for a life she could never have planned.

She remained curious. She still asked too many questions. She still occasionally overthought a three-line email as though international diplomacy depended on it.

But she laughed more easily about that now.

And somewhere along the way, she stopped measuring her life by how impressive it looked from the outside.

She measured it differently:

Did I love people well?
Did I make something better because I was there?
Did I keep learning?
Did I have the courage to change when something no longer felt right?
Did I become someone I could rely on?

The answers were not perfect.

But they were enough.

On the final evening of this story, she sat with a cup of coffee that had gone slightly cold because she had been too busy talking.

There were still things she wanted to do.

Still places she wanted to see.

Still ideas scribbled somewhere waiting to become something.

And that was perhaps the nicest part.

Her life did not end feeling finished.

It ended feeling lived.

She looked around at the people beside her, smiled, and finally understood:

She had spent years searching for the life she was supposed to have.

In the end, the best parts began when she stopped searching for it - and started choosing it.

Now, if you’re curious about yours, ask ChatGPT:

“If you were to write a book about me, what would be on the last page?”

Try it. You might like what you read.
