Question to older users: Do plenty of you expect younger people in their 20s to be talking with diverse age groups and backgrounds people?

So this is a question which i typically have put of curiosity. As plenty of users on here are older often 40s to 60s and some even 70s which means plenty of you have much more life experiences, do you all expect younger adults these days to be more socially confident with diverse people instead of just sticking to the safe bubble of being with the only same age group peers? I am asking this both in friendship and dating context or maybe even in socializing context. Online in some forums I do see some men suggesting young men in their 20s to go for older women to gain more experience so do some of you feel that too? Like when I was 22-23 and in my MBA and posted about my crushes like Anshika, Akansha or Dimple who were mostly about my age and Indians too and used crying emojis like 😭🥲🥹 in my posts as I used to be shy especially with Anshika, did many of you ever feel "Omg why is he only crushing on the same women mostly his age in his college instead of diversifying himself and going for women from other cultural backgrounds or older women too?"

Also I notice plenty of college aged and 20 somethings where I live in the city Bangalore in India sticking to the same peer bubble which are mostly in the same age group and having silly chats with those cringe crying emojis like 😭😭 and all. This is happening with plenty of people in this age group so do some of you people ever find it cringe and wonder why they aren't diversifying their circle or socializing? Don't you all feel why are many of them only sticking to crushes or others in their college class and not going to some 21+ venues and meeting diverse age group people? Like now I am 25 and as I recently completed my MBA 9 months ago, I am socializing with more with Indian women, foreign women and even foreign men in Central cosmopolitan parts of our city Bangalore. I am not just talking to 20 something women only but sometimes also with foreign women and men in their 30s and even 40-50 age range too so yeah I am diversifying my socializing for real and it makes me feel proud that I am able to talk to older women without freezing and greet them and feel way more confident nowadays. I am not longer just using crying emojis but taking real life social risks to build connections as I don't have a peer environment. So yeah that's why this question came in my mind for many of you whether you expect us to diversify when it comes to socializing, friendships and even dating.

I'm going to list my observations here: It sounds as if you've grown emotionally and socially. A lot. You've put in a lot of work to get past your fears of speaking to women. Great! The next greatest step in a relationship is a man's ability to listen. Just listen. Ask questions and just sit and listen, with compassion. It doesn't mean you will find the perfect person, but women want a 1) provider 2) protector -physical or emotional strength to withstand life's pressures, physical to know how to fight off dangers emotional because she will have mood swings. You have to be emotionally resilient/consistent. 3) back to being a good listener who can also be empathetic. 4) a woman wants to believe she chose you--so being too forward can make you look desperate. Desperate is a man who will pick just anyone at all. You have to know the type of person you want. What are the most important qualities a woman should have to bring YOU joy and admiration. Now that you are no longer afraid to speak to people, wait and see if a woman wants to speak to you. I don't know why, but a man who is too eager, who doesn't wait, who doesn't allow time to pass, is a turn off. I hope you find a connection. Just be ready that she may not always like that you talk to everybody /anybody. Hopefully you will find someone who likes a talker and a friendly person. Thats probably one of the qualities you should look for in a partner since you're so vocal. You're also a bit of an intellectual so someone who is into science/math field and can understand many variables might fit your personality type. I'm just guessing. As for your age observations, it's the natural order of things. People have to be challenged to conciously reach out to other age groups. You could write a paper or book about why you think it's important. There may be some books out there on age gaps. But in general people prefer mating within their age groups. There are many cultural and social misunderstanding when people date outside of their age group. Music and entertainment preferences is one SIMPLE example.

@Mindful Wow that's a long answer. But yeah I agree with many of the points. By the way I wasn't just talking about dating but also friendships and general socializing too. Also yeah at 25 for dating I mainly prefer women in the 21-30 age range tho(that's what I set on dating apps like Hinge) so yeah within 4-5 years my age max mostly but I can still go for someone older up to 35. I meant mainly about socializing and that sometimes I do talk to international women in their 30s and even 40s too. I am just a recent MBA graduate who is trying to find connection as I don't have that steady peer environment now which I had in University.

Age is a crutch so many lean on. Respectful conversation is what’s important, plus even the younger demographic can bring learnings to us older ones!

When I was in my 20's I would talk to anyone. I'm not sure about anyone else but once you reached adulthood, you were in that world and age didn't matter. I see that a lot here still.

However, I have seen the movement of people thinking 25 is not an adult and some real ageism on social media.
