My husband's boss is such an ahole 😩
The job is only 2 hours a day, and pays like 5 or 6 dollars per hour, but it's all he's been able to get working from home so far. /=
A while ago his boss said he'd pay my husband a bonus of $40 if he fixed some technical issues for him. This job was worth way more than $40 but my husband wasn't sure how long it would take before looking into it (impossible to know), so he agreed. He fixed the first issue, wrote a piece of code that would otherwise have cost the boss money to get, then started fixing the second issue of emails going into spam. Working outside of his normal working hours for a week, he did fix it to quite a large degree (it kind of works now), but to fix it 100% the boss needs to buy a subscription. The boss did not want to do that, and told my husband: "We decided to go with something else instead." The thing is that this subscription has a free trial, so the boss can literally try it for free for a month, to find out if it fixes the issue, he just won't. He's doing all kinds of stupid things now, like removing signatures from emails, which looks unprofessional and will make the issue worse. When my husband asked for his $40, the boss asked him: "Did emails stop going into spam?" He won't pay him his $40 because, without trying the subscription, the issue is technically not completely fixed? My husband spent a crazy amount of time on this for such a low pay, and did a lot of things which no other person on the boss' team is remotely capable of doing. He identified the issue, gave him a solution, but because the boss doesn't want to do the solution, it technically isn't 100% fixed? Then the boss said: "It's not about the $40, it's about the work." YESSS! He did the work, he saved you money by writing his own code, he gave you the solution to the problem, and there's a free trial so that you can make sure it works without investing a single penny! It's indeed about the work and not the money, you tech illiterate doorknob. He should be paying way more for all this but my husband just wanted him to hold up his end of the original deal, and he won't even do that. Absolute scammer.
