A new rant post about why it feels like this year too we probably won't visit hometown.

So I had also made posts before on here that my hometown is Siliguri in Northern part of West Bengal in India but living in the city Bangalore in Southern India. So even though we visit Siliguri once almost every year, our last visit there was Sept 2024 so yeah it's been almost 2 years. So the mainly reason we didn't visit there was because my uncle who is my dad's older brother and a doctor is renovating my grandparents home as both are dead now and making another floor and it's been going on forever. Yes they literally started it at early 2025 but now it's August 2026 and still the work isn't done yet. Yeah my uncle said that in between there was some shortage of cement so the work was halted but currently a lot of it is done but the finishing is still pending. My uncle sent us the pics of our house but he is saying most probably it won't get over by October either when our Bengali festival Durga Puja will happen.

Yeah we planned to visit Siliguri during the upcoming Durga puja but it looks like it won't happen which is making me angry. There is Durga puja in Bangalore too but I haven't really seen the authentic Durga puja in West Bengal as we have shifted when I was a child. Yeah I go with parents(yeah I live with them even at 25 which is normal in India) to hometown too so yeah they aren't even comfortable to stay in uncle's home for some reason because grandparents house feels more like home. So yeah we planned to visit Kochi and Alleppey in Kerala State of India during Durga puja and Dussehra time. But even though Kerala is beautiful too, it's still the broader South Indian region where Bangalore is too(just different states) and I want a complete change of environment for a few days to a week. The North Bengal region feels so unique because of its proximity to foothills of Eastern Himalayas.

There are so many hill stations like Darjeeling, Pelling, Kalimpong etc as well as the Dooars region and many of these regions have Tibetan refugees, Nepalese population, Bhutanese as well as Lepchas etc so it feels very diverse plus food like momos, Taipos, Thukpa etc. Plus maybe we could visit one of the 7 sister North East Indian states too or maybe even Bhutan. It's just making me so angry that the construction work is taking so long and my uncle is always saying it won't get over most likely even in October. I am like how long will it take? I need a 2 weeks break and refreshment. I already am feeling burnout from the isolation after MBA is done, job searching and the ghosting after interviews, my long outings to Central areas of our city Bangalore and socializing too. Also I also miss exploring around the airports of Bangalore, Kolkata and Bagdogra while traveling on flight to Siliguri. The Kerala trip will mostly happen via train or bus as it's near to Bangalore. It just sucks that it's been nearly 2 years since our last visit and nothing since then.
