The real reason why the bump-in with her felt so unexpected and different. Do you relate to this feeling?
So in my previous post I shared that yesterday I had this unexpected bump-in with this woman Anagha in the sidewalks of Vittal Mallya Road close to Lavelle Road and UB City mall of our city Bangalore in India. She was my classmate during my undergrads in engineering. But this one felt so different than if I would have bumped into someone from my more recent MBA chapter. That's because my engineering years were so forgettable. I was still shy due to low self-esteem after facing so much bullying in school and the college was male-dominated as I took Electronics Engineering and i was mostly isolated in college especially in lunch breaks as I had almost no friends and some boys mostly came to me to eat my snacks or take money from me and the very long exhausting bus commutes from my home to college as it was in Kanakapura road which is at outskirts of Bangalore and the traffic jam at Silk Board junction of our city was still brutal that time and then Covid pandemic hit which made the college years more isolating in home. I never spoke with Anagha in class, we weren't close friends and I never even had a crush on her so yeah she was just a neutral classmate to me. She is a Kannadiga from Channapatna of Karnataka and I am Bengali from Siliguri and we both live in Bangalore for years(I am here since 2008).
Now we are both 25 and I eventually initiated a conversation even though if we weren't close in class and didn't talk and that's because I wanted to show her that I am not that shy guy from college and a confident man now. So yeah I initiated while she was with 2 of her friends and she recognized me and we talked and i mentioned we were classmates during engineering and asked each other how are you. But like I mentioned, an older man in his 50s who was walking behind them suddenly stopped walking and stood still and stared intensely at me with an angry expression while i was talking to her so that made me feel unsettled. I don't know whether he was her older guardian like a father or uncle or a relative or just some random bystander but I disengaged saying her "Have a great day" and walked away. But yeah this one definitely felt so different as we were never close and she wasn't even a crush of mine so I just initiated normally with her and talked even though my engineering years were so bland and forgettable. It was so good to meet a familiar peer still even if she wasn't a close friend and also show them I am not shy anymore. What do you feel about it?
