That was nice

In the book I read about adapting with chronic illness from a Buddhist perspective. There was a chapter about friendships or family relations falling out, the author mentioned a technique she uses which is whenever there's suffering due to her feeling left out or ignored by a friend of hers or her married daughter she simply just reaches for her phone and call them and check on them instead of waiting for them to reach out and start spiraling and worrying increasing the suffering due to this feeling because she never knows what might be the reason they might be busy or sick or anything else.

Anyway like 4 days ago I randomly tried it with my new friend, the one who spoke with me about religions and stuff. I was going for a walk and I thought of him then decided to call him and see what's up, we spoke for a couple of minutes and agreed to meet up sometime when he has time. Then today he called me out of the blue to check on me and kept apologizing for being too busy to see me and said that he didn't forget that we didn't really finish the conversation we had when we met last time and that we will continue it soon and he said he's too busy because his wife is expected to give birth anytime. I mean it's a very legit reason.

I realize that was just a simple act from him but well in my life things like actually keeping in touch with a new friend and in offline life is new to me. Looks like I found a good friend. I do have a lot of questions I prepared for next time talk.
