So today I had an unexpected bump-in with someone I knew but something unsettling happened. What do you feel about it?
So today on Sunday I went out to Central areas of our city Bangalore in India. Usually I post about interacting with strangers but today I literally bumped into this woman Anagha who was my classmate during my undergrads in engineering so we weren't some strangers. At the time, we didn't talk in class tho as I was very shy near girls still but today things were different. I am 25 and she is also obviously in her mid 20s as well so same age. She is basically a Kannadiga from this place Channapatna in Karnataka state of India but living in Bangalore whereas I am from Siliguri in West Bengal living in Bangalore for many years. I initially saw her walking with 2 of her female friends on the sidewalk of Lavelle Road. I instantly recognized her and initiated a conversation with her saying her Hi and wanted to show her that I am not that shy 18-20 year old guy anymore. So I initiated and she smiled and recognized me.
I also said her "you are Anagha right? We were classmates during our engineering days". She smiled and said yes we were and even asked me how are you. I said and asked her as well and we having a decent conversation and it felt so refreshing to meet someone familiar but something scary happened. Suddenly an older man who is mostly in his 50s who was walking behind her and her friends stopped suddenly and gave an intense stare at me. Yeah he completely stopped walking and gave an intense, angry and territorial stare almost like a "how dare you?" stare. He didn't say me anything but he gave that silent intense stare as if he was about to confront me. Idk whether he was random bystander or was someone with her maybe her dad or uncle but that made me hesitate and I said her have a good day and disengaged and walked away. Thankfully nothing bad happened but the ambiguity of that stare was what unsettled me. It's strange why he stared like that even though while talking to her I mentioned we were classmates and her female friends were relaxed and smiling too.
