I feel like a jerk
But I had to put a "no trespass" order around the market, where often unhoused people are sleeping.
And they're not all bad, but it's too dangerous with the broken glass, needles, fires, pulling at electrical sockets/cables and bodily fluids. They leave so much garbage for me to pick up. 😔 Myself and a vendor just cleaned the graffiti off of the building, and there's more there again today.
So it has to be.
I had a chat with one lady (Denise) who is one of the people who is a user but does clean up after herself and she tries to get everyone to follow her lead, but they don't.
I spoke to her a bit after I called the cops and apologized to her, and she told me about some of her history and why she is on the streets.
She cried and apologized for the people who leave messes. 😔 I hope she will be able to get clean again someday. 💔 She seems to be a lovely, supportive woman who helps other women on the streets.
