Wow I can't believe I had this interaction at all. The most unexpected one. What do you feel about it?
Its one of the most unexpected interaction I ever had because this interaction didn't happen in upscale or expat heavy cosmopolitan parts of our city Bangalore in India like Lavelle Road or UB City mall or Church Street but it literally happened at the pharmacy store right in front of our apartment in our Munnekolala which is a residential neighborhood in our city close to the IT belt. So I went to the pharmacy store right in front of our apartment to get some medicines for my dad and saw this African woman too there buying medicines and I initiated a conversation with her. She is from the African country Ivory Coast. She is a medical tourist actually (yeah many people from African nations, Middle East and Central Asia do come to Indian cities like Bangalore for medical reasons). But the fact that Munnekolala usually has no foreigners and is not a tourist hub made me feel surprised. Whats cool is she engaged. I mentioned about my MBA being recently done and just socializing with new people and she congratulated me and gave a handshake.
Then we asked our names. She too asked whether I am from Bangalore itself and I said not really I am from Bengal but living in Bangalore since 2008 and then she replied that "Oh wow so long? You basically a Bangalore local now then" and laughed. I am 25 and she also somewhere about 20s to 30s range. She was quite big built tho and tall almost my height(I am about 176-177 cm maybe even 178 cm) but yeah I enjoyed the interaction. It was just brief compared to a Cafe as we were there for medicines. I would loved to ask her about her country Ivory Coast more because thats a country I am not really familiar with and I am genuinely curious about different countries and cultures. Its wild tho that it happened right in front of our apartment and we(me and my parents) have been living in this apartment since 2011. Just one of the most unexpected moment because I just went to the store to buy medicines and never expected I would meet someone from Ivory Coast like that. It would have felt a lot more normal if I would have met her in Lavelle Road or Church Street or Indiranagar.
