Why do you feel the construction is taking so so so long?
Yeah this is another post about this topic. I have shared in some of my previous posts that the last time we have visited my hometown Siliguri in West Bengal in India was in Sept 2024 for my grandpa's 1st death anniversary. We have been living in the city Bangalore since 2008 but we visit Siliguri annually once and rare twice. But since then we haven't been there. That's because as my grandparents are both dead, my uncle(dad's elder brother) who is a doctor decided to add another floor above. The house itself was already renovated in 2014-2015 into a 2 storeyed house but uncle wanted to add another floor but the construction has been going on forever even though they stared it in early 2025. Last year, I remember uncle saying it will get over by Sept or Oct of 2025 but it's June 2026 and still it's not over.
So today my uncle updated us saying the work was stopped in between because a cement wasnt available to the workers to do the construction work and that's why the delay. Uncle himself is telling us it will be inconvenient so he told us to come only when the floor is fully done. He is saying it will most probably be over before our main Bengali festival Durga Puja in Oct 2026 but still he isn't fully sure. If not Durga puja then definitely by Diwali or Kali Puja. This just sucks honestly after he said it because I need a freaking 2 weeks break for real. I am stressed with this job search, mostly in the same city, even though I am exploring Central areas of our city Bangalore, socializing with women including international interactions but it's still the same urban areas.
Siliguri and North Bengal Dooars areas and hill stations are more slow paced so it can give me some peace and relief from 2 weeks. Recently I did go to some hill stations near Bangalore like Wayanad and Sakleshpura but they were for only 3 days and it was still the broader South Indian places with similar food, not much difference in weather from Bangalore etc where hill stations like Darjeeling, Sittong, Mirik etc are more different with a different population of Nepalese, Tibetans, Bhutanese people, food like momos, Thukpa and Taipo and also a huge difference in weather compared to Siliguri. That's the change I want now temporarily so I can return to Bangalore with a fresh mind honestly. But this slow construction of the floor has made it so annoying. Idk why the hell they are taking so time. Yes Siliguri is a smaller tier 2 city so idk whether that's the reason but yeah it seems like no one understands how frustrating and even lonely my phase is as I am 25 and job searching and just done with MBA and that's why I want a temporary 2 weeks break and also socializing around in the city so much and exploring. What do you feel?
