In smaller more primitive societies, God was kind. Connected to nature. These societies were smaller than today's. In smaller societies people are held more accountable in front of each other . In larger, more complex society, prone to mass disorder or large amount of lawlessness and crime, a god that was ever seeing omnipotent and feared was needed and was born. This way, when no one is looking, the fear of the punitive God was embedded in the people's consciousness and prevented them to act immoraly, or against the society.

@greensnacks Makes all sense. That's how faith got mixed up with politics.

There are a lot of parallels between God and an abusive parent if you look for them.
The way it goes is rather: God is supposed to love us, people are supposed to fear God. People are supposed to rely on a god, and gods are threatening people.

@HijabaDabbaDoo I imagine if I was a child and my mom or whoever tells me this next day I'll be having a tea party with God 😂
Actually my young sister used to think God recits azan himself whenever she hears it coming from any mosque.

@PiecingBabyFaceTogether nah but it isn't even out of the realm of possibility to engage like a friend lol. I sure do. Forever asking for forgiveness or leading with fear makes you feel stuck because you're then operating from a place of shame. I can't do that.
Lmao, that's adorable of your sister

@HijabaDabbaDoo You get it, that's where I'm at too.
I'm pretty sure a lot of people I know offline including my best friend won't get it but it's not necessarily a bad thing. People are built different.

No, fear is the right word. I don't understand where people get the idea that God loves them, besides a few words about that in religious books. The actions in there show very little love.

@NerdyPotato I get you. I used to be like you till recently, I guess I decided perhaps I'm wrong and there's something I'm not seeing clearly.
@PiecingBabyFaceTogether blaming yourself doesn't help anyone, especially if you're not sure you were wrong.

@NerdyPotato I really don't regret anything I don't blame myself for being human. Thanks for your concern I know you mean it 🫂. I actually typed a story pointing out to this change of heart of mine some time ago and you hearted it but I decided to delete it afterwards.
I actually want to tell you more privately. Like how it all happened etc because a year ago I'd call my current self and tell him wtf are you doing lol but the thing is I think I'm more comfortable now maybe less angry definitely not defeated. I could still be wrong but it's fine.

Because it is in the religions. A lot of terrorizing language and fear based language.
A lot of it has been written for control. For years they have been conditioned to process fear and faith together.
