So I watched this OTT series and damn it made me surprised and slightly uncomfortable. Can you relate to it?

So there is this Bengali web series named Eken Babu which is a detective series. So season 9 of the series is finally out so I watched it. The show is about the detective Eken Babu(played by Anirban Chatterjee) and his 2 sidekicks- Bapi and Promotho. So this series is shot in the Purulia district of West Bengal state of India. West Bengal is my home state as I was born in Siliguri but living in the city Bangalore which is in Karnataka state in Southern India since 2008 but yeah Purulia is really far from Siliguri closer to Kolkata. But yeah this story was about Eken Babu solving a mystery of a Gemstone in an ashram of Purulia. But yeah one thing which shocked was that Purulia had hills and I used to think only Northern part of West Bengal around my hometown Siliguri has hills especially as it's close to eastern Himalayas and thought most other parts of West Bengal is in Indo-Gangetic plains. So yeah it shocked me even though those hills are nowhere near as high as the hills of Darjeeling or even Mirik. Another thing which surprised me is the Bengali Dialect.

The dialect I use is more urban Bengali Dialect common in Siliguri, Kolkata etc whereas their dialect are so different and Purulia has a large tribal population too who speaks Santali language but they also have a local dance which shows the diversity of West Bengal. It also made me uncomfortable seeing the huge poverty there among the tribal people and sad. The areas look less developed, mostly rural, no proper restaurant and many more. Being born in Siliguri, living in a big metropolitan city like Bangalore, visiting cosmopolitan areas, meeting foreigners too, seeing luxury cars etc made me feel uncomfortable seeing the condition of Purulia district. But yeah it's crazy how even within West Bengal there is such a huge difference between North Bengal and South Bengal. Eken Babu tho was being funny and starving for mutton which made the scenes funny. He also had mutton made around tribal areas which is authentic which made my mouth water for real too haha. Btw as it's a detective movie, the music were serious and intense at times which gave an unsettling vibe to Purulia. Can you relate to it?
