There is a Christmas ornament shop at a local mall. Usually this brand is a pop up that lasts a few months then closes. It is seldom in the same spot.
Yet this year they just stayed put. The store is closed and dark but you can see in and all the window displays are still there, as well as trees and shelves stocked with ornaments.
I guess mall space is cheap. This mall has a lot of unused space. They recently got new owners and are trying to refill it. Yet the pandemic hit hard.
It is an odd mix. It has all the standard stores, yet also a public library and an animal shelter (just cats, rats, guinea pigs, and bunnies). A Tesla dealership is opening soon, and outlet where you can play some sports. But the JC Penny just closed. Over the past few decades all department stores have closed, except Macy's. Some of these large spaces have been filled, others are vacant.
It is becoming harder to find clothes I like. The small mall stores are to weird, and Walmart and Target suck. Maybe I need to order online. But I like to try things on first!
Still, I have enough to last the rest of my life, even after wear and tear causes me to discard things. Yet if I gain or lose weight I will be in trouble. I lost weight during my 2023 illness and had to start buying new clothes, then I regained the weight and now those new clothes are stacked in the corner gathering dust. I should give them to charity.
