The main reason why we skipped going to Chikmagalur. What do you feel about it?
As you all know, we went to Sakleshpura for a trip for 3 days which is in the Western Ghats of India and about 220 km from our city Bangalore in India. We returned back to Bangalore yesterday. We initially planned to visit Chikmagalur too as its only 50-55 km away from Sakleshpura. Basically Sakleshpura is in the same broader Chikmagalur region but we are talking about the main Chikmagalur area which is urban and is surrounded by more waterfalls. I was very excited for Chikmagalur as we went there in late 2014 too when I was 13 turning 14 soon enough and I remember seeing multiple older cars like the Fiat Uno, Fiat Sienna, Opel Astra, Opel Corsa, Mitsubishi Lancer GT, Maruti Esteem, old Honda CR-V and especially the Peugeot 309. The Peugeot surprised me the most at the time as I didn't even know India has Peugeot cars before too but yeah I came to know the Peugeot 309 was in India in the late 90s. So yeah that car fascinated me at the time. So as a 25 year old now who is still a major car enthusiast, I wanted to go to Chikmagalur mainly to see whether I can see the Peugeot 309 in 2026 too now other with other cars like Opel Astra, Fiat Uno etc and this time I would have posted it on Instagram because in 2014 I didn't have my own phone or Instagram yet so couldn't film or post the car at all at the time and I was bullied regularly in school so had 0 friends and that trip was a break from that stressful school life. In Sakleshpura, there weren't many rarer older cars and most old cars were Maruti 800, Maruti Alto and Maruti Omni van and I mainly wanted to see the Peugeot 309 but Idk why it wasn't in Sakleshpura despite being in the same Chikmagalur district.
Sadly our plan to visit Chikmagalur was cancelled. Thats because it wasn't just me and my parents who went there but also my dad's ex-colleague Debdas uncle with his wife too. They said their hired driver said it would be difficult to return back if we visit Chikmagalur but our hired driver said it was definitely possible. Yeah it was because we went for sightseeing and Abbey falls which are 45 km away from Sakleshpura so we could have easily gone to Chikmagalur which is just 5-10 km more than that but yeah it was mainly that Debdas uncle didn't want to visit them. If I went with just parents, we would have visited Chikmagalur but Debdas uncle didn't want to visit Chikmagalur and just stick to Sakleshpura but unfortunately there weren't many places to visit around Sakleshpura unlike Chikmagalur. Our driver also suggested for us to visit the historical twin-towns Belur and Halebidu which my Debdas uncle refused too and didn't want to visit so we were just stuck to Sakleshpura and mostly in resort. I even said my parents I want to visit Chikmagalur as I want to see the cars there especially the Peugeot. It sucks that the trip was kinda bland even if refreshing. What do you feel?
