Oh god I have been tricked again 😢😭. Why does it happen like this?
So in one of my previous post, I shared that I got a work from home job but today I found out they are fraudulent. So I am 25 and freshly done with my MBA who is job seeking especially in Data Analytics. So I got a call from a number last week saying they are calling from the US based Pharmaceutical company Incyte Co. They said in the call that they are based in the Indian city Hyderabad and asked whether I am looking for any Data analyst role. I said yes and they asked me which city I am in and I said Bangalore so they said about WFH role and scheduled an interview and test for me. They didn't even ask for my resume and I thought maybe they saw my resume in one of the online job portals. I ignored most of the red flags including the fact that the phone number is a Mumbai number and not a Hyderabad or Bangalore number. Like in the email about the test, they said it will be monitored by my laptop's webcam but the test site never asked me to turn on the webcam and yet the test terminated me for no reason saying I violated test rules even though I didn't 😢😢. I attempted the test 4 times and all the 4 times I was terminated. 😕.
The interview itself was strange too. Last Tuesday they scheduled it at 4:30 PM but no one joined the google meet. They said the Product manager will take it but no one joined. Whenever I tried calling the number, an automated voice message kept saying "Sorry the team seems busy". The HR then called me asking why didn't I join the meeting and when I explained that no one was there in the meet, she apologized saying the product manager was busy and then rescheduled the interview at 6:30 PM. We had the interview at 6:30 but another red flag was that the interviewer never asked me to turn on the video camera to take the interview and she didn't turn on her camera either. Also the voice of the product manager taking the interview was very similar to the woman who called me on phone as the HR. Also she not only asked me questions about Python and other technical skills but also asked a personal question like what did you do on your birthday. Idk why I ignored these red flags maybe as I want a job so badly.
The interviewer praised me a lot saying I performed exceptionally well in the interview and sent me a selection email that I was shortlisted for the role but never shared any joining date or offer letter but was still so happy that I finally got a job 😭😭. After that complete silence for over a week. I tried calling the number but the automated voice message kept saying they are busy. I even tried sending a mail on 24th Feb about it but no reply at all. Then I noticed today that there is no Incyte Co in India at all neither in Bangalore nor in Hyderabad. The Bangalore address of the office they provided in the email is fake too. There is no official Incyte office in India at all and it's mainly in US and some other foreign countries. I shared all these on ChatGPT including the email address of the HR and even that was fake/fraudulent and not the original Incyte domain address. The number is from Mumbai which is another red flag as they claims to be from Bangalore and Hyderabad. I tried searching for the number on Whatsapp but found out it only has blank profile pic and nothing about Incyte and the account name was written as "Dgspl Talent" which looks so suspicious. I messaged on WhatsApp and they replied immediately even though on phone it says they are busy. When I pointed out that there is no Incyte in India at all, they replied this "There is a pilot process in bangalore" which is a full lie. This was just a job scam used to target job seekers especially fresh college grads and MBA graduates 😢😭
Thankfully they didn't ask for any money or documents yet but I was soooooo happy and relieved that I finally got a job 😢😭 but sadly I was tricked. My mom was relieved as she would often ask me why I wasn't getting a job but now I don't even know how to say her the truth that this was a scam/fraud. Idk why it happened with me but I am really upset 😭😭. It's like I am again having to give interviews and idk when I will get a proper one and the market competition is high in Bangalore even though it's an IT hub. I am really feeling terrible today about what happened 😢🥺😭. What do you feel about it?
