Marbles, conkers, collecting football stickers to fill an album/swapping 'doubles' in the playground for ones that we needed, Chopper bikes, the first skateboard craze, buying a can of shandy and thinking we were grown up, ditto sweet cigarettes, long summer holidays when we'd disappear all day and our parents knew we'd be safe, swimming in the river.
Much better than sitting on our backsides staring at phones.
@RodneyTrotter1 what are conkers? shandy? i definitely agree with that last part....remember when the phone would ring and everyone would run for it?

@LILY61 Conkers are Horse Chestnuts, we made a hole in them and hung them from a shoe lace or piece of string, then found an opponent and we had to smash their conker by taking aim and swinging ours towards theirs, took it in turns until one broke, the one whose conker broke was the loser. It was great fun!
Shandy is a small amount of beer in a glass of lemonade, it was sold in cans.
@RodneyTrotter1 never heard of it but i am sure it sounds fun
We were always playing outdoor pick-up games all day of football, baseball, or basketball . In winter we played hockey on a frozen pond.
Sling shots.
Collecting pop bottles for the 2 cent deposit.
Snow shoveling the neighbor's sidewalks for a nickel.
Putting pennies on the railroad tracks.
Sleeping out.
Pounding full rolls of caps with a hammer or a brick .
Bazooka Bubble Gum.
@LILY61 Re: the Milkman... I remember my first kiss. I had to stand on the milk box. 😂
I remember "WATERMAN". He would walk right thru the OPEN basement door to check the meter.

Coyote hounds in the back of the neighbour's pick up. Having rifles in the back window of the pickups lined up in the school yard. Tending sheep by helping an occasional ewe give birth.

Spinning tops / paper dolls / mud cakes / Jump rope / hula hoop / hopscotch /marbles / jacks / hide and go seek / tag / fishing / using a mop as a pony / and so much more.
@Charity is the spinning top the kind that you shove the top down into and it spins?
Charity · 70-79
@LILY61 both, that one and the one you wrap the string around and toss, either was fun.
@Charity groovy
