This is the worst it's ever been 😔

It's just dark most of the time, whenever we get electricity it's just for a few hours, enough time to take a shower or cook some food. We sleep at weird hours because it's quite frankly boring when our battery and phone runs out, and we try to get up to turn on heating whenever electricity comes back. I can't even draw commissions for money and we're still drowning financially. It feels oddly boring and stressful at the same time.

Are you able to stay warm enough? You recently posted temps that I'm sure would freeze pipes. 🫂

@Starcrossed It is still super cold. This is Celsius, not Fahrenheit (-15°C is 5°F for comparison):

I've been thinking mostly of our elderly neighbor. You know those things people put warm water in, often to alleviate period cramps? I've never tried them, but maybe sleeping with those could help our elderly neighbor stay warm? I'm not sure if they last very long though. At least my husband and I have each other.

@Nightwings I figured it was C not F. When you had posted about the cold I immediately wondered/worried about you/all your neighbors [national neighbors, not nextdoor ☺] that might be experiencing power outages and I had almost asked you then. A few hours later I saw some international reporting on the power outages there and while I usually like being right about things, I didn't want to be right about that. I feel so sad for you all.

I'm in Minnesota in US so those temps are normal winter for me, but I know that can get dangerous with no heat.

The hot water bottle is an excellent idea. Might at least take some chill off even if its only momentarily?
I think back to what people used to do without central heating way back before industrialization. I presume some neighbors have woodburing stoves and fireplaces? Perhaps someone could source an old or assemble a new bed warmer for the neighbor and bring them some hot coals from time to time?
