It's interesting that people see being a manager or similar occupations as a position of power

Actually, I work for you. It is my job to make sure everyone is happy, as much as I can

Exactly. I never took my supervisor position as a power position, it's me working to help those in my department have all they need to work successfully

@Bexsy exactly 💙 really what it is is trying to make sure everything works well and efficiently.

And for human beings, emotionally wellness is very important. For wellness and productivity.

It's easy to want to be good because it does all of the best things

That's the sign of a good manager. The ones that work alongside you and not hide themselves away in an office all day
caccoon · 36-40
@caPnAhab it's my job to fix problems and be available, but I am going to have to determine some office hours ahaha

A manager might have more say but they also have to answer to the higher ups more.

But for upper management, we are ALL just expendable cogs in the wheel.

As it should be. Servant leadership at its core. Those who think the title gives them power are in the wrong position.
caccoon · 36-40
@BillyMack I agree. The whole point of my position as I see it, thus far, is to fix problems and maintain harmony

And yes the financial stuff too, but mostly it is making sure everyone is okay

@caccoon yes! I look at it as identify paint points and find a solution that fits. And when that can’t work, advocate for something better.
that sounds exhausting.. 🥺

@deathfairy moments can be tough, but mostly it's energizing and rewarding

Usually its the managers that think that. Thats why people hate their managers so much lol
caccoon · 36-40
@Selah I don't know where they get that idea ahaha 😤

@caccoon I think it's how they cope with the extra responsibility. A lot of them are not motivated by the actual job.

Very few see it that way and even less employers want it that way.
