Am i really doing that better than him actually or am I in the same boat?
So there is this guy Bala who was in the same internship as me during Feb to March 2025. He is about 23 and I am 24. He is basically from the city Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu state of India so yeah he is a South Indian whereas I am a Bengali guy born in Siliguri in West Bengal but living in the city Bangalore since 2008 whereas Bala was in Bangalore for months for his internship. So Bala is that type of guy who is awkward near girls. Like a lot of Tamil people, he probably grew up in a more gender segregated conservative environment so even now he is awkward near them.
During the internship, he literally switched seats and sat next to his male friend as he was seated between 2 girls. I asked him why he doesnt feel comfortable near girls and he said he has allergy to girls. I asked him why and he said humorously thats how his manufacturing is. I can understand as I used to be shy too but I overcame my shyness last year and now I am full confident near women. He also studied MBA like me but he did it in Coimbatore which is more homogeneous whereas I did my MBA in Bangalore which is more cosmopolitan and had students from all over India and I even talk to foreign expat women in Central Bangalore.
We are still in touch on Instagram and currently he is in Tamil Nadu state again but whenever i share that I talked to this North Indian woman or this German woman or this American woman, he just replies with laughing emojis and says me to enjoy. He seems content with it. But nowadays as I am done with MBA and job searching i am also having limited female interactions nowadays so i wonder whether i am being similar to him now as he too has limited interactions but its due to his internal hesitations. I still confidently approach foreign expat women and chat with Indian women from my MBA on Instagram but i also get ghosted or delayed replies by some so am I really same as Bala at times?
