@GermanAf I don't think things really have to last forever, but the lives we lived will have an impact on future generations. If the printing press hadn't been invented in 1440, we would probably not have the advanced, relatively cushy society we have today, not on the same timescale anyway. And the printing press was made possible not only by the man who fashioned it together, but by the millions of nameless, faceless workers who kept society running at such a level as to cultivate innovation in the first place. Even just the tax revenue you generate goes towards scientific research that will stay relevant for... well, forever, potentially. There is honor in being a small part of something big.

Is there honor in a cancer cell? And what good is scientific advancement if it's just used for destruction?
Remember Boston Dynamics and their posturing around military use for their robots? Now their just openly demoing their missile carrying exoskeleton lol
Not really relevant to me because Germany refuses to participate in big tech locally, but you get the idea.
