Say honestly people, am I really seen as a bad guy just for approaching women just because I am an Indian dude?
So I wanted to post this because there is suddenly a surge of videos on Youtube about India and Indians. So many contents both by Indian and foreign Youtubers about Indians lacking civic sense, some Indian men being pushy or creepy to women, staring at them, littering around, behaving badly even abroad, many Westerners complaining about too many Indians flocking to their countries, some tourists in India getting harassed etc. So yeah seeing these videos a lot on Youtube recently.
I am worried because nowadays I am approaching women(both Indian and foreign) in cosmopolitan areas of our city Bangalore, India like UB City mall, Lavelle Road, Church Street, Indiranagar etc. Most of the time I approach them in the Cafes while having a Coffee. There are plenty of foreigners in these areas especially UB City and Lavelle road who are typically expats as Bangalore is a major IT hub. So I wave at foreign men and say them hello, have conversations with foreign women from multiple countries like Germany, France, US, UK, African countries etc and nowadays even talking to Indian women in Cafes there.
But i am worried whether these foreigners here especially the women lump me into the other bad Indians too. Like whether women too find me creepy or something even though I always respect their space and if they say no, I respect it and only talk if she is also interested in talking and its the same with Indian women too but as Indian men are getting stereotyped as creeps and India itself is getting so much exposure on Youtube, I am worried about being lumped into the problematic Indians too. I am just trying to have normal socializing and trying to meet new people as I am 24 just freshly done with my MBA and looking for a job so unable to meet many people.
But even though the women talk with me smiling I worry whether they too think I am a bad or creepy guy just like how Indian men are stereotyped to be even though I am fluent enough in English, approach in cosmopolitan and upscale parts of Bangalore and its a big metropolitan city and dress well too. What do you feel?
