Why the hell do some 3rd person here in India intervenes when i talk to women even if the woman is comfortable?

Its frustrating that even in a big metropolitan Indian city like Bangalore it happens. As usual at first i talked with a German expat woman in Lavelle Road which was brief but pleasant and talked with a few Indian women in UB City mall. But the bad moment happened when I went to Church Street. As you all know Church Street is a youthful and cosmopolitan cobblestone street only for pedestrians which gives a Western vibe. I went to this Cafe named Matteo where i talked with women before too including foreign women. As usual today too I saw these 2 women who looked like North East Indian while i asked them parcel some cheesecake.

So i was talking and found out they are from Himachal Pradesh from Northern part of India and I said I am from Siliguri. Everything was going fine. The women were comfortable and smiling while talking and there was no discomfort but suddenly a staff intervened even though I did nothing wrong and while I was exiting the Cafe, the Cafe's manager or maybe supervisor said me what happened and eventually said me "YOU SHOULDN'T BE TALKING TO CUSTOMERS LIKE THAT". idk what did i do wrong.

This is the 3rd time when some random male staff or supervisor intervened for just talking to a woman even if the women were comfortable. The women i talked to today were working adults in their 20s so they are fully capable of handling themselves. Idk why this moral policing happens in India. Those men were South Indians as usual so more conservative i guess. Those women were full adults and yet they thought those women needed protection? I was just normally socializing and trying to meet new people. Sometimes I get so angry in this country.
