I'm overall happier when I can nurture, create and keep my home.
But we sacrifice so much of what makes us our happiest selves for work, to pay bills, for things we overindulge in and generally don't need. They provide a false feeling of wellness that feeds a system of consumerism, consumption, addiction and greed.
I fall right into it too sometimes. Joy is so hard to come by and that's not even because of my personal situation. It's because the system gets fed first. Before my child, my dog, our hobbies and even necessities. Then we're looked down on for not having the frivolities others have, when I don't care about or want what they have at all.
I just don't care anymore. I like what I have, I don't need much and I appreciate things that last. I find happiness in simplicity and think things are too complicated as they are. Our system. It's eating our bodies and spitting out our souls.
