While my guitar gently weeps

In the late 1970s, Pedro Martín Ureta began planting over 7,000 trees—primarily cypress for the guitar body and eucalyptus for the strings—on his farmland in Argentina’s Pampas to honor his wife, Graciela Yraizoz, who had passed away suddenly in 1977 after expressing her desire for a guitar-shaped landscape. The living tribute, spanning roughly two-thirds of a mile, required meticulous planning using his children as markers and innovation to protect saplings from pests. Today it’s visible from airplanes and satellites, including on Google Earth, and has gained international recognition as a heartfelt monument to love
