Stopped in to visit a lady I knew

She was quite beside herself. A fellow officer had stopped in to see her before going hiking in the bush. When I showed up she urged me to go find the other fellow. I was a bit puzzled. The other officer was older than I and from what I saw of him was a capable woodsman. She insisted. "Yes Joe" she said "I know he is your senior in rank but he is a city kid and doesn't know a thing about animals" "You are a farm boy and you know animals". "He may have been eaten by the bear he decided to pet". I set off in hunt for the other officer. I had gone about 5 miles back into some old growth forest when I found the other officer and his girl friend. He said he hadn't seen any bears. I guess he was too noisy. I had seen a little snow black bear not far from where I found him. The bear was kind of cute but I wasn't about to pet or feed it. It was happily eating berries so I left it alone.
