Not everyone who opens up about their pain is seeking attention.

Sometimes, they’re simply searching for understanding. For a reason to hold on.
For someone to say, I hear you. I see you. You are not alone. You may not fully understand what they’re going through. You might not be able to fix it.

But you can listen. You can remind them they matter.

Actually I think the problem lies more in defining seeking attention as a bad thing. Yes, at times it is but in many cases, such as wanting to be seen, heard and understood, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with seeking attention. It’s a fundamental human need.
@OlderSometimesWiser I was thinking that as well.

A cry for attention is not always frivolous ("look at me !")

Sometimes it’s "am I the only one experiencing this ? Can’t anyone else understand ?" 🥺

That's what I've been trying to say. 😕
