Day 10 Post-Op

sometime today it's off to rehab depending on when an ambulance crew is available. surgeon was in yesterday and provided more information. got good news and bad news. he said I should gain full mobility and walk normal again. however with the location of the break it will probably be 3-6 months before my hip is healed enough to take the weight of my body on it. he also said another 3-6 months before I'm walking with a normal gait but still with the aid of a cane. he said don't plan on driving anytime soon. didn't mention it and I didn't ask but looks like won't be having my morning dip in the pool while my coffee is brewing. was treated very well here at the hospital but Alan doesn't have privileges at the rehab hospital. not changing my attitude and will be on my feet and walking as soon as I can. effort= results. until tomorrow take care all and have a great day

Effort absolutely equals results. I haven't commented on many of your daily posts, but I have been following them.

Last year I had a couple surgeries myself together with some rehab (didn't talk about it much on here, except in private). I didn't like the progress predictions or rehab schedule they first laid out either ... So I decided I was going to put some extra effort myself.

And it paid off. I do have some titanium in me and I do feel it once in a while, but today, 14 months post surgery, I am back to 100% strength, range-of-motion, and 100% activity.

I would ask about the swimming. In my case, that was a HUGE part of the extra effort I put in. As soon as the incisions are closed (which is relatively quick) I was allowed in the water. I was doing laps at Craigville Beach on Cape Cod a little over a month post surgery (that was April and the water was freezing, but I'm a northern girl! 😏).

Keep it up, put in the work, and you will be back in your pool ion no time. 🙏🙏🙏
