I try and do both. I work hard and save money but I also want to enjoy life. I am a pretty simple guy. So it doesn't take much for me to be happy. Give me a fire, a good cigar and whiskey with my partner and I'm a happy guy

Luckily for me, most of the things I enjoy are either free or not expensive. I do take trips to the beach and the mountains from time to time, but, they arent too far away, so, not that expensive. i do have some saved up, but, i have kids still in college, and i try to help them out with expenses, so alot of my expendable cash goes to help them out.

I do a bit of both - never go over board with the spending but i will buy things to make me happy - we can all try and save right? but that would be pointless if tomorrow we died - would we regret not enjoying ourselves more at the time?

Spent years working hard and saving.

I keep getting official letters saying how whatever i save is never enough (pension. Life insurance. etc.)
Then developed a health issue that altered my perspective on what's more important.

Time.

Balance is key to save for the important things and not be wasteful but to not be so stingy you don't enjoy life either..

This is my mindset.

I believe that you live not once, but every day. What you make of it is up to you. You either live a life worth remembering or you don't.

However, death is guaranteed to everyone of us.

I try to get a reasonable balance. I probably lean closer to saving than spending
