Damn today I had a quite intimidating moment with Black man that in my own country India. Whose fault was it-his or mine?

So today I went to Manipal Hospital near Leela Palace in our city Bangalore in India for my father's health checkup. The hospital has many international visitors and patients too mostly from African countries but today I also saw a couple of white men in the hospital too which was a rare thing. But yeah I was saying all those African men and even those white men "Aye yo man" and showing them the hand gesture pointing my thumb finger, index and middle finger and folding the other 2 to greet them. Most were chill with it and one of the African man even smiled but at last there was this black African man in this waiting cabin whom I showed the same gesture saying Yo man. He got serious and looked confused and was trying to say me something. I showed him the gesture and walked off thinking he will take it lightly but he came out of the cabin and looking at me confused and even walking towards me.

I got a bit intimidated as I was worried that what if my parents get to know and also he seemed serious and wanted to confront me about it so I walked away fast to another floor. My dad's checkup was done and both went to washroom but as I was walking around, I suddenly bumped into that African dude and it looked like he was searching me around and he recognized me and asked me in a serious but confused manner about the gesture. I explained that its like a bro-code and I was just greeting him. Then he asked where I am from and what I am doing here. I said my parents came for checkup and I am walking around and explained I was just greeting him. He seemed Nigerian. It was shocking as I didn't expect an African or any foreigner to confront me like that in my own country.

Then he asked me "why did you run then seeing me? Did you take photos of me?" I said no but he wanted to see my phone gallery. I showed him my phone and he saw there are no photos of him at all and I just said him that I was just greeting him. It was a bit intimidating as he was similar height to me but was big enough built and had a large head and face. My mom was done with washroom and she called me and I went and eventually the African man walked away and my mom asked me what happened and I just said her he was asking me for direction like where the nephrology department is.
