Gender neutral toilets

So my college announced it has made some of the toilets gender neutral for people of 'any gender identity'. It worries me that even an institution based on educating is playing into the delusion that there are more than two genders and that you can feel like a gender. They said that everywhere seems to be heading in the direction of just gender neutral toilets so they're thinking of turning them all like that and I don't feel comfortable sharing with guys personally.

Biologically there are 2 sexes and there's also intersex- people born with mixed sets of genitals/ XY chromosomes with female genitals and other sorts. Gender is not the same as sex, gender is an identity. Girl babies don't come out of the womb liking pink and wearing lipstick. Those things for instance are social constructs and used to signify a gender identity.

Pink used to be a boys colour and blue was a girls

That's right. Totally has no basis in biology, it's all cultural.

@Magnolia: Absolutely, it's the same as hairy armpits on women, girls being outdoorsy instead of playing with dolls, it's OK for women to walk along arm in arm, but not heterosexual men, all cultural

It's a shame so many people just allow themselves to be ignorant to a topic and then judge people based on their own misconceptions :(

@Magnolia: Yeah exactly.. So saying you have a specific gender identity just because you like a certain social construct one gender follows is completely stupid in my opinion. We can't pick a gender just because we like things that the the other sex does .. adopting a gender identity for me just a way for people to feel special in my opinion. And even if you feel like you want to put yourself in a box- where a gender identity would define you- then how is that relevant to which bathroom you want to pee in. Bathrooms are split based on how people pee (out their vagina or penis) not by what they're into or how they feel

You think it's a way for people to feel special? You obviously know nothing about this. Trans people are the people most likely to commit suicide. They are more likely than the rest of us to be the victims of random attack, domestic attack and rape. They are more likely to fall into prostitution. It's not special, it can be a life of incredible hardship, who would choose that for themselves?
Say I was exactly as I am now (100% female) yet my bladder didn't work and I had to use a colostomy bag, would that mean I couldn't use the women's toilets because I don't pee out of my female genitalia? (Urethra, not vagina btw) No of course not because which toilet you go into is a social thing, not a genital thing. That's why little boys can be taken into the women's toilets with their Mums to go pee and it's acceptable, because it's a social thing, for example.

@Magnolia: I think the fact trans people are most likely to commit suicide shows that they are most likely to not be right in the head. People who want attention so bad don't really care if it's negative or positive- for example trolls. They're more at risk of that stuff but thats obviously a risk they're willing to take. I don't have a problem with trans people but I do when it comes to facilities being changed to support them at the expense of others. I will only have a major problem if all toilets are changed to gender neutral. That's bullshit that it's a social thing. You don't go in there to chat to people. A boy will go in with his mum because they're too little to have the responsibility to go into a toilet by themself, and that's perfectly fine because the boy goes into a cubicle with the mum. And that other example is irrelevant, the woman with the colostomy bag will still have a vagina. Toilets are separated based on sex, whether you're male or female and really young children/babies are an exception because they are not going to harm anyone and their parents are supervising them.

You obviously do have a problem with trans people because you just suggested they're "not right in the head." How many do you know personally?
I have wasted too much time trying to speak some sense into you. I think you're just prejudice against trans people and I'm not OK with that.
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
@Magnolia: i suggested that some may not be right in the head but I honestly don't mean that offensively. People who are severely depressed are not right in the head because they have a chemical imbalance and I feel for those people. I know one personally and with trans people usually they'll say their reason for identifying as the other gender is because they liked the social constructs in that particular gender. You haven't spoke any sense and you contradicted yourself. And people with your opinions on this matter may change bathrooms in that there will be 30 bathrooms for each gender identity that's come up with each year. It's so ridiculous but I guess you wanna feel like you're doing good by sticking up for special people. I don't care what you're not okay with. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Bye👋

@Itsprincess: I've know several trans gender people, and I noticed that they usually have poor mental health.

I guess from experience that poor mental health is more likely to cause someone to declare themselves trans gender than being trans causing mental illnesses.
