I learned something in the kitchen today

You can still use brown sugar if it's hard. Just put it in the microwave with a damp paper towel for 20 second intervals. It soon gets soft and packable.
My ham glaze is rescued.

"Smear a little soft butter over it, makes the rescue easier". Especially if it's for glaze, the butter added is a plus.
