I learned something in the kitchen today

You can still use brown sugar if it's hard. Just put it in the microwave with a damp paper towel for 20 second intervals. It soon gets soft and packable.
My ham glaze is rescued.

I started making my own brown sugar. A tablespoon of molasses per cup.of white sugar for lite brown and two tablespoona per cup for dark. Just stor it up in the mixer.
