@Musicman money does buy happiness. I have seen many people who can't have what is important to them because they didn't have money. They don't have proper healthy food, clothes and also medical care, money for education, money to afford for their studies and dreams, marriage, money to provide properr safety for their kids and women.
People committed suicide out of financial pressures or having loans that they can't pay.
But the main problem i observed with people who have money is emotional isolation, relationship issues, being fat, getting into bad habits, not feeling attractive about themselves, never able to tell if the opposite sex's attraction towards them is real or pretend, stress to keep up the money or earn as much as their parents did.

@sahi81 You are partially right and partially wrong. Money will pay your bills. It will buy you better food. It will let you pay cash for college and new cars and a house, but that is stuff. None of that is happiness. It is stuff. As soon as you buy it the thrill is over and you have to keep spending looking for your next fix.
True happiness comes from within. Whether you are rich or poor you can have happiness.
