Was it really creepy if I tried initiating conversation with the female employees in this corporate office where I had an interview?

As I am in 2nd year of my MBA which is also the final year, our grad school is providing job placements so we can get a job or an internship soon as this last semester will be dissertation with no regular classes. So today i had one interview in a corporate IT company in our city Bangalore. I turned 24 just couple of weeks ago and as I never had a gf, I try to talk to any woman i see if she is in her 20s or 30s. So there in the office as well, I tried initiating conversation with the female employees in that office just like i do with female students in my MBA grad school and also with the foreign women in this luxurious mall.

I initiated conversation with 3 such women who looked in their mid to late 20s and I basically asked whether they work in the company where I was having the interview and even introduced myself that I am an MBA student and having an interview there and then asked their name and said mine too. The women were comfortable enough talking to me. My another friend who had an interview told me later not to do that as its perverted behavior and also told me about POSH and that some woman might complain about harassment if she is the wrong type of woman. Was it really harassment? How can I meet women then if i am having no regular classes in grad school this semester and I am only connected with those girls on instagram and our chats had been infrequent and no other girl is chatting much with me and dating apps arent working at all for me?
