Yeah, but I'm not aspiring to rise high on the corporate latter. No desire to be in middle or senior management.

Since I have no ambition to be a boss, I'm not sure my reputation to get things done in my own time affects my career trajectory much. I'm realistic about timelines, and deliverables and have become quite adept at recognizing and calling out when I've been asked to complete an impossible task. I don't commit to something I know I can't deliver so my reputation that I will complete the things I say I will when I said I would has earned me a fair bit of respect.

My fearless candor to be vocal in disagreements with poor/impractical decisions made by the executive committee, HR, and senior management hasn't always made me some people's favorite person, but I've found has earned me a ton of trust by my other grunt worker breatheren.


I keep much of my home self and life separate from work. Few work people know off the clock me.
