Yesterday I initiated conversation with a girl who is also a classmate for the first time. Is it a good thing?

There is this girl(lets call her M) with whom I have some shared classes too now in my MBA. She is 23 and I am also 23 and I always wanted to talk to her but didn't get the chance to before. We weren't classmates during our 1st year so didn't know each other and now in 2nd year we do have some shared classes. Yesterday, she finally sat next to me during the class as there weren't any other vacant seats. My heartbeat was raising when she sat next to me and she is really beautiful. I finally gathered some courage and initiated a conversation with her first asking whether she understood the class or not and then asked her name and then told my name too. I also asked her which section she was during 1st year and then I said it was nice to meet her and she smiled and said same here. She is a bit of an introvert too similar to me so our conversation was getting over fast but I was finding ways to talk to her asking whether she completed all her assignments or not and also asking whether she has more classes to attend or not and she too replied to them. Overall we had a short but decent conversation sitting together.

One of my male classmate too teased me jokingly later as he saw me talking to her and I said him that I wish during next class too more students should come so that there won't be any other vacant seats and she can sit next to me and he smiled and replied "Good for you bro". This is the first time I initiated conversation with a female classmate. Most girls I talked so far in my MBA have been either with girls who are in my year but different classrooms or with my juniors who are in 1st year as I was more shy to talk to female classmates so it felt so special. Really looking forward to meet M again and talk to her.
