The end of heavy industry in the countries renowned for it because it's cheaper to produce and transport from poorer countries than make it yourself.
The rejection of coal as a power source because by comparison there are cheaper forms of fuel out there that don't have the risk of it's workforce bringing the country to it's knees through industrial action.
The end of a way of life for generations.
Overfishing partly due to the massive expansion of food superstores to the point where certain species are now extinct.
Banks threatening to withdraw completely from the high street.
And the reasons they give are purely profit driven.
