How do you treat people who you think are stupid?

It’s on my mind lately that it’s the general response of most people to mistreat those they think are stupid. That, in their minds, it’s deserved. I think that mentality especially shows up in customer service jobs, where customers think people working certain jobs are dumb.
But maybe I just think even stupid people should be treated with basic decency because I happen to be one of them. Of course I don’t want to be mistreated.

You're right about the service industry. When I was doing lawn maintenance, and I was very great at it too, there were still people that felt entitled and were very condescending. And then when I worked in a private automotive garage, there was this one guy I'll never forget that had beef with me. He's tried to get me fired several times. My bosses knew about him because he's always had a target but they still couldn't do anything about it. Anyways, I think that dude bullied me because of insecurities with his long criminal record and trying to climb the ladder So it's the typical prison attitude, "my $hit doesn't smell nearly as bad as so and so." Ironically, I'd have the same cold attitude when I worked as a CO. That guy didn't like that. It was just an annoying game of dominance. The more he tried, the angrier he got. Lol

Anyways, people need to treat others with basic decency. It's not hard. But if they can't, I hope they have to learn how to do service jobs or someone they respect does a service job so that they may learn.... because otherwise, if they aren't humbled, this attitude continues until they're completely alone.
@RedGrizzly Trying to get people fired over things that don’t really matter is crazy. 😕 So much of that these days.

@RedGrizzly Yeah. Pretty sick. They think that if they get reactions, they get under people’s skin, and they’ve “won.”

@Colonelmustardseed I believe that in some levels of government - and maybe big industry - picking out someone beneath your position in the hierarchy and demonstrating that you can fire them is a required step on your way to promotion.

@ffony that's true! I've heard about that. But this garage had a small crew, I was the newest member. They weren't gonna fire me no matter how much that guy squealed. My bosses knew he'll be a d#&$ to everyone and anyone, why they don't do anything about that is beyond me.
