My freshman year at university

I had the honour of attending a lecture by a famous Canadian author. The next evening I phoned home to brag about my encounter with fame. Dad casually asked how the author was doing. I was a bit taken aback until Dad explained that the famous author had been his teacher in high school. Took the wind right out of my sails.
