most people confuse acceptance with embracing.

Acceptance isn't positive, it's neutral. When you accept something you aren't saying "this is a good thing", you're simply acknowledging the existence of the thing without negative feelings toward it.

Yet saying something like “I accept child abuse” doesn’t sound right at all.
@OlderSometimesWiser God no! The key is no negative feelings. And any sane person will feel something negative about child abuse. So nobody accept it except the abusers.
