How much time in advance do you tell work when you need a day off?

I have two jobs. One job told me we have a meeting in required to attend (it’s once a month) but they only gave me a couple day notice. I was already scheduled at my other job during that time and I asked my boss if I could have an hour off and she said too many people called out sick for this week cause they have Covid so I’ll need to stay for the full day. I told my boss from my other job I won’t be able to attend the meeting.

But now I’m kinda anxious I’ll miss out what was said during the meeting, and also a little anxious that I wasn’t able to take an hour off.

How should I be feeling?

The average timeframe is recommended at two weeks if you know ahead of time, that way managers can fiddle with the schedules.

@NativePortlander1970 is it okay that I can’t attend the meeting?
@Fifidog If your other job won't let You attend You have no other choice but to miss it.

@NativePortlander1970 I’m just kinda scared cause that job pays better I’m hope they won’t be mad lol
@Fifidog Your manager should understand, are they both full time jobs?

@NativePortlander1970 one job is full time and one job is part time. The meeting was for the part time job.
@Fifidog Then You have no other choice but to miss the meeting, your full time job takes priority.

@NativePortlander1970 should I tell the people at the meeting I have a doctors appointment at that time or tell them I’m working another job?
@Fifidog Be honest, tell them your full time manager won't let You have the time off to attend.
