Are there people in your life who you parted ways with a long time ago? Was the ending good or bad? Do you still greet them on their birthdays?

There's a person who was a friend who had feelings for me but I ended up turning down.

It happens to be that person's birthday.

I pondered on whether I should greet him or not. It's a simple greeting, I know. But Idk. Kinda like, I was wondering if me doing it will disrupt his life for some reason. Makes me wonder if he's better off without me greeting him.
But then maybe I'm just assuming and overthinking. Maybe it's really nothing now. Better that way, I hope. Maybe. Who really knows haha?

A lot depends on how you left things and your intent.

Friendship is not easy but if you played the "game" well enough... you can almost always get in touch no matter the # of years.

If it's an old flame... I'd really think back and figure out how you'd define your relationship with that person. Was it a true and good friendship (with some extra passion and emotions) or was it just a relationship with zero friendship.

If you're trying to rekindle a friendship and that's your intent... I don't think time should ever give you pause. On the other hand.... relationships are always messy.
