I think he inherited one. I've heard that. But I don't know. Or maybe that was Lincoln.

SW-User
@Spoiledbrat he inherited more than one lol

Oh okay. Also I meant to say I've *never heard that. But it may be true. @SW-User

I don't know why I thought that. That's why I said maybe it was Lincoln. @SW-User

@Spoiledbrat yeah Lincoln didn't own slaves 🤭 he came from a poor family, and was anti slavery.
As for what is said in the original post, possibly it happened...earlier on. Washington's views on slavery evolved over the years, as evidenced in his will

He married into it I believe. I'm sure a president was willed a slave. I just don't remember who. I don't think anything is funny tho. @SW-User

Lincoln married a woman from a family of slaveowners I mean. @SW-User

SW-User
@Spoiledbrat his father left him slaves. Others he acquired through marriage, some were bought, and naturally there were slaves who had children who he then owned

SW-User
@Spoiledbrat that is true about Lincoln, but neither him nor his wife supported slavery or owned any of their own
Spoiledbrat · F
@SW-User He ended slavery. I was talking about that I read that he inherited one or some when his wife died but I'd forgotten if it was him or what the story was. Nevermind
